Please note that if you wish to become a Precinct Delegate, the Alcona County Republican Committee can appoint you on a permanent or temporary basis. For those who wish to do so, you must attend the Alcona County Convention. The public is welcome to come and see the process.
OFFICIAL CALL TO THE ALCONA COUNTY CONVENTION
There shall be a meeting of the duly elected Precinct Delegates and the At-Large Delegates to the Alcona County Convention at 7:00 pm on Thursday, January 26th, 2017 at the Harrisville Township Hall, 114 S. Poor Farm Rd., Harrisville, MI 48740.
The purpose of this meeting shall be to elect 3 delegates and 3 alternates to the February 10th, 2017 District Caucus and the February 11th, 2017 Michigan State Convention. Both will be held at the Lansing Center and Radisson Hotel in Lansing, MI. The purpose of the State Convention is to elect 14 Congressional District Chairs, 98 members of the Michigan Republican State Committee (14 of whom are the Congressional District Chairs), 1 State Chair, 1 State Co-Chair (who shall be the running mate of the State Chair), 1 Outreach Vice Chair, 1 Coalitions Vice Chair, 1 Grassroots Vice Chair, 1 Ethnic Vice Chair, 1 Administrative Vice Chair and 1 Youth Vice Chair.
Precinct delegates and certain at-large delegates given the preference under Rule 8 of the Convention Rules, but who cannot attend the county convention, must notify the Chair of the Alcona County Republican Committee (Lawrence Brozowski – Chairman (lawrence.brozowski@gmail.com)) or the following designee (Carrie Mullins – Secretary (carriemullins@hotmail.com ) in writing (the “Notification”) of the person’s intention to become a delegate or alternate delegate to the state convention. The notification can be in any written form, including by letter or email, and must be received by the Chair of the Alcona County Republican Committee (or designee) by no later than the start of the Alcona County Convention on January 26, 2017. Failure to provide the notification as provided herein shall mean that the person shall not be given the preference under Rule 9 of the Convention Rules. It is not necessary to send a notification if a person attends the County Convention.
Precinct Delegates elected at the August 2nd, 2016 Primary Election, and Precinct Delegates elected to permanently or temporarily fill vacancies to the State Convention, as well as the most recent Republican nominees for County and State Legislative offices, the Michigan Congressional Delegation, the Republican National Committeeman and National Committeewoman from Michigan and Michigan Republican Party Officers (see Rule 5C) where such person resides in Alcona County will be considered eligible to vote at this convention.

On October 8, the Oscoda Campaign Headquarters open. They are located at 209 S. State, the old Real Estate One office, just north of Mill street on the river.

On October 12 – Iosco Meet and Greet from 5:30 to 6:15 pm in East Tawas. Michigan Republican Party Chair, Ronna Romney McDaniel will be stopping at the East Tawas Headquarters at 900 E. Bay St. (US 23) from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. Everyone is welcome to stop in and say hello.
There was a mistake in the newsletter. The October meeting of the SSRWC will be the 24th at Hsings at 11:30. With at least one speaker scheduled at this time, being Sue Allor and possibly Nancy Huebel.

There is an Alcona County Board of Commissioners meeting on Wednesday the 21st at 10 am in Harrisville (106 5th Street). Carrie Mullins will be speaking about a Resolution to help prevent the resettlement of refugees in the county. With the aid of Jeff Johnston (Iosco County Republicans Chairman) this resolution passed in Iosco County. A copy of the resolution is below. Please attend if you are interested and able.
We will also be going over this at the Alcona County Republicans meeting on the 26th at the Harrisville Township Hall, 7PM.
Jack Bergman, Sue Allor, Jeff Johnston and Casey Rhodes (Alpena GOP Office Manager) will be at that meeting.

A RESOLUTION DECLARING ALCONA COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONER’S OPPOSITION TO THE RELOCATION OF REFUGEES FROM THE UNITED STATES REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT PROGRAM IN THIS COUNTY AND THE REJECTION OF STATE FUNDS TO ASSIST IN THE PROGRAM
WHEREAS, the Alcona County Board of Commissioners is the elected governing body authorized to adopt appropriate ordinances and resolutions to protect the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of the County; and
WHEREAS, the Federal Government has indicated that thousands of refugees from the Middle East will be relocated to the United States in the next few years through the Refugee Resettlement Program; and
WHEREAS, at a hearing held October 22, 2015, FBI Director James Comey issued a warning about the FBI's inability to screen Syrian refugees entering the U.S; and
WHEREAS, this resettlement process will create financial areas of concern with refugees and their families presenting unfunded burdens to schools, law enforcement, living arrangements, and health care providers for the foreseeable future; and
WHEREAS, the Alcona County Board of Commissioners hereby expresses its concern over United States Refugee Resettlement Program, and any possible State expenditures for the program in this county: and
WHEREAS, the Alcona County Board of Commissioners strongly favors a moratorium on all refugees coming into the state until the vetting problems and other problems associated with the Refugee Resettlement Program can be addressed by Congress;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that this Alcona County Board of Commissioners does not approve of the state proceeding with the United States Refugee Resettlement Program and rejects the expenditure of federal and state funds to assist the United States Refugee Resettlement Program in this County.
